There have been volumes written on the grieving process and I admit I have not read much on the subject, but I wanted to point out just a couple of observations.  My wife, Patty, is dying of a rare cancer.  I started grieving her loss the minute I was told her condition.  Grieving does not start after the person is dead.  I guess everyone other than me knew that.

The second thing I did not know was that the person dying also grieved.  I am not going to try to speak for Patty about all the ways she does grieve, but she does.  I think it is very important to remember this when dealing with a dying person.

My last small comment is simply to say I do not think grieving is a process to be defined and I will not try to do so.  I will say God Bless all those who have lost loved ones and who are presently losing them.
